Who is S&P?

Standard and Poor's are called 'S&P'. It is one of the major financial rating agency in the world. Ratings agencies are "measurers", that is they tell us what they think about an investment.

They are not very different from movie reviewers or any other kind of expert who considers there opinion as important or the final authority. And like in all other fields, their authority usually is proportionate to how much of attention do they get.

The other rating agencies are - Moody's and Fitch.
