Nicco Corporation Ltd. Company History and Annual Growth Details

The Company was incorporated on 31st May 1983 as a Public Limited company in the state of West Bengal, with the objectives and activities for manufacture of Jelly filled Telecommunication Cables. The Company commenced commercial production during November, 1987 and has gone through a long chain of mergers and amalgmations. The details of the same are as follows :

During April 1990 furmanite NICCO amalgamated with National Insulated Cable of India (NICCO).

NICCO Steels amalgamated with NICCO during February 1991.

The name of the company, NICCO was then changed as NICCO Corporation in March 1991 ultimately, NICCO Coporation merged with NICCO Industries on September, 1992. In the month of April 1993 NICCO Telelink NICCO took over NICCO Industries and soon after the amalgamation the name of the company was changed to its present name i.e., NICCO Corporation.

2000 - Nicco Engineering Service Ltd. a wholly owned subsidiary of Nicco
Corporation Ltd. is scouting for a strategic partner.

2002-Ms Anjali Bhan Kamtekar resigned from the directorship of Nicco Corporation.

-Nicco Corporation Ltd has informed that Mr Satish Puri and Mr U K Basu have resigned from the Board of Directors of the company with effect from November 15, 2002 on their retirement from Wholetime service with the Group.


-Nicco Corporation Ltd has informed that the Board of Directors at its meeting held on June 28, 2002 approved the divestment of the steel division of the Company.

-CDR Cell's Approval for Corporate Debt Restructuring Proposal.

2003

-Dr A K Sood, Nominee Director of Technology Development Board (TDB), Government of India, was appointed as an additional director of the Company.

2004

-Nicco Corporation Ltd has informed that upon completion of his term, Dr Abhjit Sen has retired as Co-Chairman & Managing Director of the Company with effect from the close of June 1, 2004.

-The Nicco Corporation signed a MoU with the Bose Institute in the presence of West Bengal industry and commerce minister Nirupam Sen for setting up a Rs 28.2 crore biotechnology project at Kalyani, about 50 km from Kolkata
