Sensex closes above 18K
Mumbai, Feb 7: The Sensex closed at 18037.19 up 29.04 points or 0.16 percent and the Nifty ended at 5396 up 0.25 points. About 1140 shares advanced, 1714 shares declined, and 456 shares remain unchanged.

Suzlon Energy, Hero Honda, ITC and Jaiprakash Asso, who among the top gainers, were at 3.23 percent, 2.99 percent, 2.68 percent and 2.45 percent up respectively.

 

PNB, Cipla, Ranbaxy Labs and Wipro, who among the top losers, 3.53 percent, 3.01 percent, 2.63 percent and 2.24 percent down respectively.

BSE Sensex gains 82 pts; Nifty 18

At 1:49 pm, the 30-share BSE Sensex rose 82 points to trade at 18,091 and the 50-share NSE Nifty went up by 18 points at 5,413. However, the broader indices were down half a percent.

Sun TV Network, BF Utilities, SpiceJet, SBI, Tata Motors, ICICI Bank and Tata Steel were the most active shares on exchanges.

Hero Honda, ITC, HDFC Bank, Jaiprakash Associates, Infosys and Suzlon Energy, who among frontliners, gained 1.5-3 percent.

However, Cipla, Wipro, L&T, Hindalco, TCS, Ranbaxy Labs and GAIL slipped 1-2.5 percent.

Sensex gains 74 pts at noon trade

At 12:21 pm, the 30-share BSE Sensex gained 74 points at 18,082 and the 50-share NSE Nifty rose just 12 points to 5,408. However, the broader indices were trading with moderate loss.

Hero Honda, ITC, HDFC Bank, Jaiprakash Associates, Bharti Airtel and Suzlon Energy, who among the frontliners, gained 1.5-3 percent.

Cipla, Wipro, Tata Motors, Hindalco, L&T, Ranbaxy Labs, GAIL and HCL Tech fell 1.5-3 percent.

Market begins on a +Ve note; Nifty hovers around 5400

After a sharp cut seen on Friday, Feb 4, NSE Nifty gained power on Monday, Feb 7. Index was hovering around 5400 level in the opening trade.

At 9:32 am, the 50-share NSE Nifty was trading at 5,414, up 18 points and the 30-share BSE Sensex was at 18,087, up 79 points.

ITC, Jaiprakash Associates, Reliance Communications, M&M, Maruti Suzuki, Reliance Power, TCS, ONGC, Bharti Airtel and Infosys, who among the frontliners, were witnessing buying interest.

However, Cipla, Suzlon Energy, Sun Pharma, Dr Reddy's Labs, Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, ICICI Bank, BHEL and HUL were on sellers' radar.
