The growth in the net profit was led by the increase in the net sales, other operating income and other income. The company has registered an increase in its net sales by 9.90 per cent amounting to Rs. 2,763 million in the quarter ended March 2011 as compared to Rs. 2,514 million in the corresponding quarter last year.
Moreover, the other income of the company surged by 201.7 per cent to Rs. 172 million from Rs. 57 million in the quarter ended March 2010. While the other operating income increased from Rs. 169 million to Rs. 207 million.
Meanwhile, the total expenditure increased by 8.83 per cent to Rs. 2,382 million in the March 2011 quarter from Rs. 2,193 million in the corresponding quarter last year.The increase in expenditure was mainly due to the increase in the raw material consumption, purchase of traded goods and depreciation, which increased to Rs. 1,192 milion, Rs. 236 million, Rs. 54 million during the quarter from Rs. 1,112 million, Rs, 188 million and Rs. 43 million respectively.
The tax expense stood at Rs. 252 million in the quarter ended March 2011 as against Rs. 186 million in the quarter ended March 2010.The paid up equity share capital of the company in the quarter ended March 2011 amounted to Rs. 230 million.
