BHEL bagged Rs 1,500 crore project
Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has been awarded the contract for the Rs 1,500 crore (approx.) worth Greenfield 540 MW thermal power project at Raghunathpur, by the power distribution firm, DPSC Ltd. The company has also secured the contract for the 450 MW thermal power plant at Haldia. The project from DPSC is estimated to be executed within the next 36 months, whereas the Haldia project would take additional two years.

A couple of days ago, the company secured a contract worth Rs 5,450 crore from Bajaj Hindustan Delhi for the supply, erection and commissioning of a 3x660-MW capacity thermal power plant at Lalitpur in Uttar Pradesh.

BHEL is the largest engineering and manufacturing enterprise in India in the energy-related/ infrastructure sector. It caters to the core sectors of the Indian Economy including power, transmission, transportation, renewable energy, oil & gas and defence. On April 29, 2011, the shares of the company closed at Rs 2,000.75, increasing by 0.41 per cent on the BSE.
