Skoda India sees 90% sales growth in April
Announcement in relation to the sales growth for the month of April 2011 has been made by Skoda Auto India,the fully owned subsidiary of Skoda Auto AS. The company said that it witnessed a sales growth of almost 90% during April 2011, when compared with the sales of the company during April, 2010.

The sales recorded by Skoda Auto India during April, 2011 stood at 2,446 units whereas the sales registered during April 2010 were 1,285 units. Moreover, the Czech auto major said that it is targeting to double the growth of its sales across the globe, by 2018.

The target involves selling minimum of 1.5 million units. The firm is working towards the expansion of its product portfolio and for that it will be launching a small car towards the end of 2011, though this car won"t be introduced in India.

“Last year was a historic year for us and we have started this year very well too," said Winfried Vahland, Chairman - Board of Directors, Skoda Auto. “We are now going to start a new model range that will help us switch to a higher gear."

Asia, amongst all other regions has provided the company with maximum amount of growth during FY10.Last year the company"s sales in Asia went through a growth of 48% which has been the highest sales growth ever witnessed by the firm in any region.
