Turmeric down 0.88% on subdued demand
On 2nd May 2011, at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited, the prices of turmeric for the May month contracts declined by around 1.56 per cent to reach Rs. 8,692 per quintal. The total traded quantity of the commodity stood at 2,845 lots representing Rs. 2.47 crore in value terms.

Similarly, the prices of turmeric for the June month contracts declined by around 2.14 per cent to reach Rs. 8,524 per quintal. The total traded quantity of the commodity for the June month contract stood at 1,605 lots representing Rs. 1.37 crore in value terms. Limited demand in the spot market along with the arrival of new crops from major producing regions of the country was the primary reason behind the declining prices of the commodity.
