Nissan India car sales slump by over 40% in April
Japanese auto-maker Nissan Motor India has registered a decline of 40 per cent in its car sales in April, 2011 over the previous month. In April, Nissan was able to sell 1,198 units of India- made Micra as compared to 2,060 units that were sold in March 2011.

The company reported that the decline in sales during the month of April was largely due the rising interest rates and high base effect. However, Mahindra and Mahindra and Toyota have recoded moderate growths during April 2011 as compared to the corresponding month last year.

The sales of luxury sedan 'Teana" and SUV 'X-Trail" of Nissan have also declined. Teana sold just 7 units in April 2011 as compared to 24 units sold in April 2010. While, X-Trail sold 2 units in April 2011 as compared to 23 units that were sold in April 2010.

Meanwhile, according to the annual comparative figures, Nissan Motor India has recorded sales of 1,207 units in April 2011 as compared to 47 units in April 2010.
