Turmeric down 1.40% on fresh arrivals
On 4th May 2011, at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited, the prices of turmeric for the June month contracts declined by around 1.40 per cent to reach Rs. 8,326 per quintal.

The total traded quantity of the commodity stood at 1,610 lots representing Rs. 1.34 crore in value terms. Similarly, the prices of turmeric for the July month contracts declined by around 1.55 per cent to reach Rs. 8,364 per quintal.

The total traded quantity of the commodity for the July month contract stood at 530 lots representing Rs. 44 lakh in value terms. Limited demand in the spot market along with the arrival of new crops from major producing regions of the country was the primary reason behind the declining prices of the commodity.
