The world's second largest PC vendor, Acer, has introduced five tablets under the brand name of Iconia brand, which will lie in the price range of Rs. 27,990 to Rs. 70,000. The five tablets that are launched are Iconia Tab A500, Iconia dual screen notebook, Iconia A100, Iconia smart A300 and Iconia W500. The Acer Iconia tab A500 will operate both on Android Honeycomb 3.0 and Windows 7 platform.
Commenting on the launch of tablets, Acer India's Managing Director, W S Mukund, reported that the launch of Iconia range of tablets in India will bring a revolution in the dynamics of consuming digital content. As the demand for tablets is growing in the country, the company is expecting that the tablets will make a significant contribution in the overall revenue of Acer in the calendar year 2011.
The market share of the company in India is 10.6 per cent and it had generated revenue amounting to Rs. 2,550-crore revenue (January-December) in 2010.
