Cardamom down 1.80% on sluggish domestic demand
On 5th May 2011, at the Multi Commodity Exchange, the prices of cardamom for the June month contracts declined by around 1.80 per cent to reach Rs. 922.60 per kg.

The total traded quantity of the commodity stood at 210 lots representing Rs. 1.93 crore in value terms. Similarly, the prices of cardamom for August month contracts declined by around 2.15 per cent to reach Rs. 918 per kg.

The total traded quantity of the commodity for the August month contract stood at 26 lots representing Rs. 23.96 lakh in value terms. Limited demand of cardamom in the spot market, along with increase in profit booking activity, were the primary reasons behind the declining prices of the commodity.
