Pepper down 2.80% on profit booking

On 5th May 2011, at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited, the prices of pepper for the May month contracts declined by around 2.80 per cent to reach Rs. 28,140 per quintal.

The total traded quantity of the commodity stood at 9,060 lots representing Rs. 25.49 crore in value terms.

Similarly, the prices of pepper for the June month contracts declined by around 3.65 per cent to reach Rs. 28,400 per quintal.

The total traded quantity of the commodity for the June month contract stood at only 6,746 lots representing Rs. 19.16 crore in value terms.

The increase in the profit booking activity was the primary reason behind the declining prices of the commodity.
