Lakshmi Mittal, HPCL to commission Bhatinda refinery by July
HPCL-Mittal Energy (HMEL), a joint venture between State-owned Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Singapore-based Mittal Energy Investment Pte Ltd, is likely to commence production at its Rs. 18,919-crore refinery at Bhatinda by June-July 2011.

Chairman and Managing Director of HPCL, Subir Roy Choudhury, quoted, "Mechanial completion (of the 9 million tonne per annum unit) is over." and "The unit will start processing crude oil by June-end and products will be in market by August-September."

Additionally, the construction of the 1,014-km cross-country pipeline to route the transport of imported crude oil from Mundra port in Gujarat to the refinery in Punjab has also been completed as per schedule.
