Oil ministry to review D6 gas allotment norm on 18th

Oil ministry to review D6 gas allotmen
Following the directives of the Bombay High court to address the issues of the non-priority consumers of natural gas, from Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) operated D-6 block, the Oil ministry will take a fresh review of the matter on 18 May, 2011.

The ministerial meet is likely to take a call whether it can use the limited output from RIL's D-block to meet the requirement of priority industrial customers like power and fertiliser producers at the cost of productivity from the non-core consumers like steel and petrochemical makers.

Considering the limited availability of gas from the controversial block, just sufficient enough to meet the requirement of the priority sector, Government on 30 Mar 2011, directed RIL for pro-rata supply cut to the non-core consumers, which was implemented by RIL from 9 May 2011.
