RIL to drill third exploration well on D9 exploration license

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) will drill the third exploration well on the D9 exploration license located in the Krishna Godavari basin on the East Coast of India. The D9 well covers an area of approximately 11,605 km2 and is jointly owned by London-listed Hardy Oil & Gas which has a 10 per cent participating interest in the license and Reliance Industries Limited which has 90 per cent stake.
The exploration well will be drilled to a depth of 4875 metres using Transocean drillship Dhirubhai Deepwater KG2, to explore the hydrocarbon potential of the early and late Miocene channel fan complex.
Reliance plans to drill a fourth exploration well before the end of the year in order to meet the license"s minimum work programme.
