Barley rises due to fresh buying activity
On May 16, 2011, the prices of barley for the June contract rose by Rs 14.60, or 0.98% to Rs 1,505 per quintal, with an open interest of 10,690 lots at the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) due to the fresh buying activity by the traders tracking the steady spot markets sentiment.

The barley for the May contract went up by Rs 13.60, or 0.93% to Rs 1,476 per quintal, with an open interest of 6,110 lots at the NCDEX.

Moreover, the good demand from the beer and cattle-feed making industries against the decline in the arrivals in the physical markets also supported the prices.
