Hindustan Unilever’s initiative “India water body”
India"s biggest fast moving consumer goods company, Hindustan Unilever, has started a campaign across the country in order to save water by assessing the demand-supply gap.

“By 2030 the supply of the water in the country would be half of the demand for it, which can affect country"s economic as well as social development and would impact the health and livelihoods of millions of people throughout the country severely", said Mr Nitin Paranjpe, CEO & Managing Director, Hindustan Unilever.

Water conservation has always been the major concern and focus of HUL, R & D department of Hindustan Unilever is bringing new ideas and improvements in technologies, to reduce the use of water in their operations and production.

HUL has brought products which need less water for laundry purposes, i.e. surf excel quickwash for which comparatively less water is needed. Nitin Paranjpe said, “it"s been over a decade that company is working in the field of water conservation along with the NGO"s and other local communities and we have initiated many such projects which will enable us to conserve more than 50 billion liters of water in next four years that is 2015".

Company is concerned about the fact that everyone lives a clean and healthy life and the planet could remain green with sufficient amount of water. To ensure this, company has set three major goals to be achieved by 2020:

(1)To help more than one billion people improve their health and well-being.
(2)Reducing the bad impact, causing to nature while production of company"s products by 50%.
(3)100% Utilization of all the raw materials coming from the agricultural field and sustain them properly.
