RIL to drill 2 wells in KG-D6 by Jun’11 and 9 by Mar’12
The Indian oil ministry and DGH have ordered Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) to drill two wells by next month and another nine by the end of FY12 to increase the gas output.

Since the Dhirubhai-1 and 3 fields located in eastern offshore KG-D6 block are producing 41-42 million standard cubic meters per day (mmscmd) of gas in contrast to the targeted 61.88 mmscmd, govt has been asking the company to raise its output.

The decline in the output is led by the fall in reservoir pressure and water ingress in wells. However, RIL has send a plea or seeking advice of global experts on reservoir issues faced at its KG-D6 fields to the ministry, but no response has come so far.
