On May 21, 2011, the prices of sugar closed on a quiet note as a result of the sufficient stocks holdings in order to meet the ongoing seasonal ongoing demand.

The quotation in Rs per quintal are sugar ready M-30 which stood at Rs 2,940-3,020 and S-30 stood at Rs 2,910-3,010 while mill delivery M-30 stood at Rs 2,730-2,915 and S-30 stood at Rs 2,700-2,900.

The sugar mill gate prices (excluding duty) are Kinonni which stood at Rs 2,880, Asmoli at Rs 2,870, Mawana at Rs 2,830, Titabi at Rs 2,825, Thanabhavan at Rs 2,730, Budhana at Rs 2720 and Dorala stood at Rs 2,820.

Moreover, the large amount of stocks to meet current demand from retailers and bulk consumers such as soft drink and ice-cream makers also supported the prices.
