Addition of around one million new subscribers further added to the development of the operator during the quarter. The addition of the new subscribers had led the company to have a gross customer base to 10.4 million.
Commenting on the success, Mr. Subhash Chandra, Chairman, Dish TV India Limited, said, “The fiscal 2011 witnessed the DTH industry in a never seen before form. The industry set new benchmarks for itself by outperforming its own stupendous growth of earlier years. While industry fundamentals remained strong, competitive intensity was never too frail. Leading from the front, Dish TV garnered a market leading average incremental share of 26% during the year."
The efforts of the company further helped it to manage the increase Average Revenue per User (ARPU). The ARPU was likely to get affected by the addition of the new subscriber was managed to increase to Rs 150 against Rs 142 in the previous quarter. The increase in the number of new subscribers can reasoned to the High Definition option being offered by the company. Additionally, the cricket season also played a significant number in increasing the number.
