India's finance minister to visit US in September, 2011
The Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee is visiting US, accompanied by several Indian cabinet ministers, top officials and corporate leaders in the month of September. The minister will be attending three different ceremonies in Chicago, New York and Washington. Latter, he will also get into top-level talks with officials of the Obama Administration. Pranab Mukherjee's visit to U.S. is seen as a positive move towards exploring the opportunities of American investments in Indian business.

In Chicago the minister will attend the 'US-India Economic Opportunities and Synergies Summit' organised by the Executive Club of Chicago on Sep 20, 2011. Moreover, Chicago's Mayor Ram Emanuel is also expected to participate as a key note speaker.

Further, the minister will visit New York to attend the eighth annual Institutional Investors' Forum meeting which is organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry focusing on the investment potential offered by India's infrastructure sector, beginning from 21st September. The Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma, Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and Renewable Energy Minister Farooq Abdullah are also likely to address the forum and approximately 500 top American corporate executives are also expected to attend the meeting.

In Washington the minister will attend the annual meeting of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund scheduled to be held in the third week of September, 2011. The minister will also get into talks with top officials from G-20 countries and other world leaders attending the respective meetings.
