Rupee rises against euro after Greece abandons referendum

The Indian rupee rose against euro on Friday as euro declined after Greece abandoned plans for a referendum on its bailout package. Rupee futures for November 2011 contract rose as much as 0.015 paise at Rs. 68.0825 per euro on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) at 12.21pm.

At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), EURUSD future for December 2011 contract traded at US$1.3808 per euro (USD appreciated by 0.15 per cent against EUR) and GBPUSD future for December 2011 contract traded at US$1.6017 per pound (USD appreciated by 0.08 per cent against GBP) at 01.53 PM today.

S&P CNX NIFTY, at NSE, traded at 5,304.65, up by 0.74 per cent, after opening at 5,325.40 against the previous closing of 5,265.75. It touched the intra-day high of 5,326.45 till the trading. (At 12.20 PM today).

At NSE, EURINR for November 2011 contract traded at Rs. 68.0825 per euro, rupee appreciated 0.015 paise against euro, after opening at Rs. 67.9500 against the previous closing price of Rs. 68.0975. Rupee rose to Rs. 68.1275 with a business volume of 12613 lots till the trading (At 12.21 PM today).
