The company had posted a net profit of Rs 74.60 crore in the July-September quarter last year, United Spirits said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange on November 8, 2011.
Besides, the company's revenues increased by 32 per cent to Rs 1,791 crore in Q2, 2011-12, as compared to Rs 436 crore in Q2, 2010-11.
However, revenues for the quarter also included the sales of Balaji Distilleries Ltd, which if not accounted, would have resulted in revenue growth of 19 per cent, said United Spirits in a statement.
The company also wrote back amount of Rs 65.7 crore for winning a case in the court, helped boosting the net profits of the company.
Despite increase in cost of goods and inflation in other costs, EBITDA of the company grew by 44 per cent to Rs 332 crore, company said in a statement.
Cheering the Q2 numbers, shares of the company were trading at Rs 876, up 5.07 per cent from previous close on BSE at 10:09 AM.
