Wipro set to push-harder; plans to create focused Operations

Leading IT company, Wipro Technologies, has announced the plans to create a separate and focused global unit called the 'Business Operations Unit'. The development is aimed at delivering differentiated value for clients with seamless, predictable execution.

“It will consolidate its Business Application Services, global deliveries, quality teams under the newly formed Operations Unit" said the company in its filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange on December 8, 2011.

Commenting over the development, CEO, IT business and executive director, Wipro Ltd, said “The technology business in which we play is at the leading edge of change. As a part of the strategy, we have committed to better aligning our internal organization to our clients needs and to make investments in driving predictability and automation in our delivery".

The move has come after the company was recently overtook by Cognizant, in terms of revenues. The Chennai-based company posted a 34.4 per cent increase in revenues to USD 1.485 billion in the April-June quarter, nearly USD 77 million more than Wipro's sales during the same period.
