Food Inflation falls to 1.81% for week ended Dec 10
India's food inflation fell to 1.81% for the week ended December 10 as against 4.35% reported a previous week on the back of moderation seen in the prices of onion, vegetables and fruits.

The primary articles food inflation which holds 20.12% weightage eased to 3.78% during the week against 5.48% previous week.

 

Onions became cheaper by 49.38%, vegetables by 26.37% and wheat by 4.21%.

 

The price of milk, fruits and egg, meat & fish rose by 11.19%, 8.89% and 9.25%, respectively.

The fuel and power inflation stood steady at 15.24%.

The food inflation figures have declined sharply in past one month reliving the policy makers who have been struggling hard to combat inflation.

India's annual inflation, as calculated on the basis of wholesale price index dipped to 9.11% for the month of November. The continuous fall in the prices of food will definitely pull down the inflation figures too.

Reserve Bank of India kept mute on the policy changes in its last meeting, which held last Friday, December 16.
