Rupee gains 7 paise against US dollar in early trade
Mumbai, Dec 23 (PTI) The Indian rupee appreciated by 7 paise to Rs 52.65 per US dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange today, supported by gains posted by the euro and other currencies against the American dollar overseas and a higher opening in the domestic stock market.

Dealers said dollar weakness against the euro and other currencies overseas and gains recorded on the domestic bourses in early trade today supported the rupee sentiment.

The rupee had closed 22 paise lower at Rs 52.72/73 per US dollar yesterday on renewed dollar demand from importers and some banks.

Meanwhile, the 30-share BSE Sensex rose by 92.32 points, or 0.58 per cent, to 15,905.68 in opening trade today.
