Sensex Nifty down on special trading session

The Indian benchmark indices were down on Saturday as investors preferred to book profits. Today, market was open for one hour special trading session from 11.30 – 12.45, as NSE was conducting live trading session to upgrade its derivatives trading system.
The trading happened in Capital Market segment, Futures & Options segment and Securities Lending & Borrowing Scheme (SLBS). Trades done today shall be settled on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, as a separate settlement.
At 1.05 pm IST, the 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 15,878.80 down by 18.93 points or 0.12% and NSE Nifty was closed at 4,746.90 down by 7.20 points or 0.15%.
On the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the top volume gainers were DLF, Maruti, Gail, Ranbaxy and Rcom posted gains between 0.52%-1.20%
And the top losers in trade were JP Associates, Kotak Bank, ICICI Bank, Ambuja Cement and HDFC Bank.
