Sensex ends in red; IT, Metal down
The Indian benchmark indices slipped into negative terrain on Wednesday amid IT and Telecom stock selling and strong negative cues from global market.

At 3.40 pm IST, the 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 16451.47 down by 14.58 points or 0.09% and NSE Nifty was closed at 4955.80 down by 11.50 points or 0.23%.

In Asia, all the most of the markets were closed in green, except Shanghai which was down by 31.55 points at 2266.82, the Nikkei 225 was up by 84.18 points and was at 8550.58. The Hang Seng was up by 59.17 points and was at 19,686.92.

Among sectoral indices on BSE, all the sectors except Realty, Oil & Gas ended in negative terrain. Among market indicators IT closed at 5513.43 down by 121.74 points or 2.16% and Metal closed at 10,926.94 down by 244.27 points or 2.19%.

On the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the top volume gainers were Reliance, HDFC Bank, reliance Infra, Reliance Power, and ONGC posted gains between 2.06%-4.26%

And the loser in the trade were Tata Steel, Sail, Coal India, Kotak and Axis Bank.
