Nifty above 5000 in morning trade; Tata Steel, Hindalco gains

Nifty above 5000 in morning trade
The Indian benchmark indices surged more than 150 points and Nifty was up by 46.20 points on Thursday amid fresh buying by funds and retail investors. Positive opening in Asian market and strong global cues further boosted the sentiment.

At 9.40 am IST, the 30-share BSE Sensex was trading at 16624.14 up by 172.67 points or 1.05% and NSE Nifty was trading at 5002.00 up by 46.20 points or 0.93%.

In Asia, all the market opened in green, Shanghai which was up by 20.51 points at 2286.89, the Nikkei 225 was up by 112.17 points and was at 8662.68. The Hang Seng was up by 207.72 points and was at 19,892.75.

Among sectoral indices on BSE, all the sectors were trading in positive terrain except IT (-0.15) and TECk (-0.17). Realty, Metal, Bankex were leading the rally.

On the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the top volume gainers were Tata Steel, JP Associates, Hindalco, DLF and Axis Bank posted gains between 2.41%-3.27%

And the loser in the opening trade were Infy, Bharti Airtel, Hindustan lever, TCS and Sun Pharma.
