Sensex, Nifty in volatile mood; RIL down 3%
The Indian benchmark indices witnessed volatility on Monday in morning trade, the 30-share Sensex opened in red and quickly rose 20 points to trade in positive terrain.

Shares of Reliance industries were down by 4% after it reported 14% fall in net profit on Friday. On Monday shares of the company were down by 24.45 points or 3.08% at Rs 768.90.

 

At 9.40 am IST, the 30-share BSE Sensex was trading at 16756.50 up by 17.49 points or 0.10% and NSE Nifty was trading at 5056.45up by 7.85 points or 0.16%.

 

In Asia, all the market opened in green, Shanghai which was up by 23.66 points at 2319.74, the Nikkei 225 was up by 21.17 points and was at 8787.78. The Hang Seng was up by 167.42 points and was at 20,110.37

Among sectoral indices on BSE, most of the sectors were trading in positive terrain except Oil & Gas (-1.57), FMCG (-0.18) and Capital Goods (-0.18). Bankex, Power, Consumer Durables were leading the rally.

On the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the top volume gainers were ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Grasim, Sail and Tata power posted gains between 1.81%-2.96%

And the loser in the opening trade were Reliance Power, Coal India, Maruti, Ster and Hero MotoCop.
