Pre Session : Indian markets getting mixed cues from foreign markets Analysis for Feb 01, 2012

Today the Indian markets are getting mixed positive cues from foreign markets. The Asian markets have opened on a mixed note on mixed cues from the European and US markets. The US markets ended on a mixed note yesterday after market sentiments were depressed slightly by some disappointing economic data. Chicago PMI fell to 60.2 in January from 62.5 in the prior month. Consumer Confidence Index for January fell to 61.1 from 64.8 in the prior month. Most of the European Markets ended in green yesterday. The FIIs were net sellers in Indian equity markets yesterday and the rally was partly driven by strong buying from domestic institutions. Now that January is over it will be interesting to see how the Indian markets perform in February.

The net investments by FIIs on 31st January, 2012 in Indian capital markets stood at Rs -550.40 crore. The net FII investments were negative yesterday.

The gross purchases by the FIIs in the Indian equity markets were of Rs. 2577.60 crore. The gross sales were of Rs. 2657.20 crore. The net investment in the equity markets by FIIs on January 31st , 2012 stood at Rs - 79.60crore.

The gross purchases by the FIIs in the Indian debt markets were of Rs 315.70 crore. The gross sales by FIIs were of Rs 786.50 crore. The net investment by the FIIs in the debt markets stood at Rs -470.80 crore.

Today,the Asian markets have opened on a mixed note on mixed cues from the European and US markets. At 7.40 A.M. Indian time, the Nikkei 225 was up 24.28 points and was at 8,826.79 . The Hang Seng was up 42.12 points and was at 20,436.91. The Shanghai composite was down 1.52 points and was at 2,291.09 .

The US markets ended on a mixed note yesterday after market sentiments were depressed slightly by some disappointing economic data. Chicago PMI fell to 60.2 in January from 62.5 in the prior month. Consumer Confidence Index for January fell to 61.1 from 64.8 in the prior month. The Nasdaq closed at 2813.84, gaining 1.90 points over the previous day"s closing. The Dow Jones Industrial lost 20.81 points and closed at 12632.91. The S & P 500 lost 0.61 points and closed at 1312.4.

Most of the European Markets ended in green yesterday. The DAX gained 14.46 points and closed at 6,458.91. The FTSE 100 gained 10.52 points and closed at 5,681.61. The CAC was up 32.91 points and closed at 3,298.55.
