Sensex reverses early loss; gains 53 pts on FII buying
Mumbai, Feb 14 (PTI) The BSE benchmark Sensex advanced by 53 points in late morning trade on buying in banking, auto, realty and metal stocks on the back of sustained foreign capital inflows despite lower Asian cues.

The 30-share index resumed lower at 17,767.46 and hovered in a range of 17,834.30 and 17,742.58 in morning trade. The barometer was quoted at 17826.49 points at 1130hrs, showing a net gain of 53.65 points or 0.30 per cent from its last close.

The NSE 50-share Nifty also moved up further by 14.65 poins or 0.27 per cent to 5,404.85 at 1015hrs. Major gainers were SBI (3.88 per cent), M&M (2.08 per cent), Tata Motors (1.68 per cent), Hindalco Ind (1.67 per cent) and Larsen (1.40 per cent).

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 469.77 crore yesterday as per provisional data from the stock exchanges.

Asian markets edged lower in the early trade. The key benchmark indices in Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, Taiwan, China and South Korea were down by between 0.07 per cent to 0.49 per cent.
