Lifeless markets end higher
Markets witnessed a drab session with the indices trading in a tight range throughout the day. The BSE Sensex closed the day higher by 11 points, while the NSE Nifty closed the day higher by 32 points at 5332.40 points.

Shares of ACC dropped 3.88% following the announcement of its results. The company reported a lower set of numbers on change in its depreciation policy. Among the other losers in trade were BHEL, Jaiprakash Associates and Reliance Infrastructure.

Among the gainers were Coal India, Tata Motors, HDFC Bank and Dr Reddy's. Markets are now expected to take cues from the results that pour in. The results season has been a mixed bag so far with Infosys disappointing and HDFC Bank and HCL Technologies cheering.

Automobile shares continued to hog the limelight with shares of Tata Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra and Bajaj Auto all gaining in trade today.

European markets were trading firm following the successful auction of Spanish bonds.
