Markets open higher in special live trading
The markets were trading on a Saturday for a special live trading and opened marginally higher with the BSE Sensex opening higher by 35 points and the Nifty trading higher by 16 points.

The NSE is conducting a special live trading as the exchange is upgrading the capacity of Futures and Options trading system hardware and software to the next generation system to improve processing capability and to handle increased activities in the market. The Existing Trading system architecture will be revamped by using a distributed processing concept.

Among the shares that gained in early trade were Axis Bank, PNB, Jindal Steel and Siemens. The trading for such special occasions is generally characterised by low volumes and lack of investor interest. Among the shares that lost ground were NTPC, Coal India, TCS and Power Grid Corporation.

Today's trading which began at 11.00 am will last for two hours end will end at 1 pm.
