|
The Government has targeted exports of $ 500 billion by 2014, Commerce Minister Anand Sharma has said. “The Government plans to double the exports to the targeted levels by 2014,” he noted.
Anand Sharma has said that efforts are being made to enter free trade agreements (FTAs) with Australia and New Zealand. The Commerce Minister also pointed out that the country was in advanced state with the European Union for finalising FTA.
According to Sharma, the export demand will take time to return to pre-crisis levels.
“Engineering exports have crossed $ 60 billion and we remain on course to double exports by 2014,” the Commerce Minister added.
Meanwhile, the government has extended the zero per cent EPCG scheme for another year.
