Markets ends flat; Oil & Gas down
Markets ended the day steady ahead of the two day European Union summit which kick started today. The BSE Sensex closed the day higher by 23 points at 16,990 points, while the Nifty closed the day higher by 7 points at 5,149 points.

The expiry of the June F&O contracts today also contributed to trade. Among the other shares that recorded handsome gains were Jaiprakash Associates, Tata Steel, Ambuja Cements and NTPC.

Asian peers ended the day in negative, the Hang Seng was lower by 0.79% and Shanghai was down by 0.95%.
Shares that lost ground in trade today were Sesa Goa, GAIL, Sterlite Industry, HCL Technologies.

Markets are expected to take cues from Europe, which would have a two day summit starting from today.

On the sectoral front on BSE, FMCG, Power, PSU and IT were leading the rally. Sectors that failed to lure investors in trade were Oil & Gas, Bankex, Consumer Durables.
