Reliance Communications net profit up marginally; shares rise

Anil Ambani led Reliance Communication posted consolidated net profit at Rs 162 crore for the first quarter ended on June 30, 2012 against Rs 157 crore for the corresponding period of previous year.
The company's total income in this quarter rose by 8.5% to Rs 5,264 crore against Rs 4,849 crore for the corresponding period of previous year. Revenue rose 8% to Rs 5319 crore year-on-year.
"RCom generated operational cash flow of Rs 1,650 crore in the first quarter. This is the second full year of positive free cash flow for the company and this trend will continue in succeeding years," RCom said in a statement.
The operating (EBITDA) margin for the quarter stood at 31%, lower than 32.4% previous earlier. EBITDA margin at 31%, amongst the highest in the industry, with strong contribution from both Wireless and GEBU businesses.
The shares of the company were seen trading higher by 2.56% at Rs 56 on BSE at 10.05 am IST.
