Patent battle of the titans end; Samsung has to pay $ 1 bn to apple

Samsung has to pay $ 1billion to apple in damages
Apple won over Samsung Electronics on patent design issue as US jury found Samsung copied some features of the iPhone and iPad and has asked to pay $1.05 billion in damages.

The jury also found that Apple did not violate any of Samsung's wireless standards or feature patents.

As per reports, it is said that Apple may seek ban on some of its Samsung products, blocking them from the US market.
However, Samsung said it will appeal against the ruling.

According to AFP report "We will move immediately to file post-verdict motions to overturn this decision in this court and if we are not successful, we will appeal this decision to the Court of Appeals," Samsung said.

Also, in an earlier statement Samsung said the verdict was "a loss" for consumers and that Apple had "manipulated" the patent system.

The verdict, came sooner than expected, of some Samsung products, which might get affected. However, the implication of the judgement on sales would take time to gauge.

According to the source, the court banned sales in South Korea of Apple's iPhone 4 and iPad 2, as well as Samsung's Galaxy S and Galaxy SII among other products.
