NSE emerges as world's largest bourse in terms of equity
India's National Stock Exchange (NSE) has emerged as the world's largest bourse in terms of number of trades in equity segment during the month of September, said a latest data compiled by the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE).

With a total of 11.64 crore trades in the equity segment, entered in just 20 days durig September, NSE witnessed a growth of 11 per cent over the previous month.

Besides, the data showed that NSE was followed by Korea Exchange and NYSE Euronext (US) at the second and the third positions respectively as they recorded 11.18 crore and 9.64 crore trades respectively in their equity segments during September.

Also the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) of India stood at 7th place in the number of trades in equity segment during the month. Though BSE has been much larger as exchange than NSE, in terms of size of listed companies, but it has always lagged behind NSE in terms of volumes and trades.
