Markets end higher; DLF surges
Among the top gainers in trade from the Nifty apart from DLF were Power Grid, Jaiprakash Associates, Reliance Infra, Tata Steel, Hindustan Unilever, IDFC and HDFC.
Shares that lost ground in trade were Coal India, Jindal Steel, Axis Bank, ONGC, TCS, Ambuja Cements and Bharti Airtel.
Shares of Jet Airways nosedived almost 8 per cent after reports that Etihad was considering revising terms of its deal with the company.
Unichem Labs jumped 4.3 per cent on reports that the company was planning to sell its Dhar manufacturing unit. Geodesic dropped 4 per cent after the company's profits failed to meet expectations.
PSU banks which had dropped sharply on Friday saw buying interest with Canara Bank, IOB, State Bank of India and Union Bank of India.
Auto stocks ended the day steady with most of the major companies in the sector ending little unchanged.
Realty stocks were the clear out performers in trade today with HDIL and Oberoi Realty joining DLF among the gainers.
Oil marketing and energy companies which rallied following a hike in diesel and petrol prices ended the day flat after profit booking in these shares.
Meanwhile, most of Asia ended the day with moderate gains led by the Nikkei, which, in fact saw sharp gains of more then 2 per cent.
