Shares of state-owned the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) plunged nearly 26 per cent in early trade, extending its over 10 per cent Friday's fall, amid heavy volumes on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
On the volume front, the company saw 657.07 lakh shares changing hands on the counter in early trade against an average of 16.28 lakh shares that were traded daily in past two weeks on BSE.
In line with benchmark indices, shares of the company plunged as much as 25.87 per cent to trade at Rs 17.90 a piece on the BSE.
In a similar fashion, shares of the company were quoting at Rs 19.75 a piece, down 23.75 per cent on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
Meanwhile, the broader benchmark Sensex was quoting at 18,782.47, down 136.05 points or 0.72 per cent at 10:05 hours.
