Govt to allot PNG connections to one lakh households in Gujarat

State Minister of Gujarat, while addressing the legislative assembly, said that around one lakh households in Navsari, Surat, Valsad, Rajkot and Surendranagar will get Piped Natural Gas (PNG)connections for cooking purpose.

"We have plans to provide PNG connections in cities of Bhavnagar, Amreli, Junagadh, Jamnagar, Kutch (East) and Kutch (West). However, the central government has not given a nod in past two years," , Minister of Energy and Petrochemicals in the state government, Saurabh Patel told media.

The minister stated that the supply of gas through pipelines has saved subsidy worth Rs 660 crores in favour of central government, which otherwise, is provided to the consumers of LPG.

Further, the state will also add the capacity to transport 11.5 million metric tonnes of gas in the state.
