Sterlite Industries ordered to close Tuticorin smelter
The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) has ordered the closure of Sterlite Industries' Tuticorin smelter plant, Sterlite has stated in a release to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

"In response to a few complaints of emission on March 23, TNPCB carried out preliminary inspection. We provided to TNPCB all the technical details of the operations which confirms that all parameters and key reading of that particular period of March 23, were well within the permissible range. The District Administration has also issued a press release confirming that no case of illness was reported on account of the emission, based on a report by the district health officials. However, TNPCB has ordered closure of the plant," the company has stated.
