Deposit growth picks up in March
Deposit growth gathered steam finally in the month of March and registered a growth of 14.25 per cent year-on-year at Rs 91,000 crore till March 22, said a data released by Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

Banks had raised Rs 99,000 crore in the previous fortnight and this was the first time in the fiscal year 2012-13 that deposits growth outpaced credit disbursements.

The RBI data showed that credit disbursement was Rs 82,000 crore during the fortnight and registered a growth of 14.11 per cent year-on-year.

Analysts said that year-end run was the factor behind growth picking up in deposits which otherwise remained a big concern from last two years. Deposit growth has significantly lagged behind the credit growth, raising the concerns on asset liability mismatch in banks.
