AirAsia rejoices on obtaining formal flying approval from government

AirAsia now has all the reasons to rejoice as it has recently received a formal approval from the Government of India for setting up a domestic airline here.

Upbeat about the entire episode, the airline officials stated in a joint statement that the company received the grant on April 4.

The company also said that with the government's nod in their side, AirAsia will be able to obtain flying license from Directorate General of Civil Aviation itself, to operate as an Indian Airline.

The airline formulated under a joint venture has jotted down its plans to operate from Chennai with focus on providing domestic Tier II and Tier III city connectivity to travelers.

Air Asia CEO, Tony Fernandes has mentioned amidst the media that the airline has earmarked USD 30-55 million in the proposed venture and would start operations with three to four Airbus A-320 aircraft.

According to some analysts, AirAsia is expected to get huge success in the Indian market.
