Markets open flat; Hero Motor Corp spurts
Shares of Hindustan Unilever were trading marginally lower ahead of its results to be declared later today. Hexaware Technologies which reported numbers early this morning was trading higher following a better then expected set of numbers. The shares were trading higher by 2 per cent.
Private sector banking names which reported numbers over the last week were trading flattish. ICICI Bank gained marginally, while HDFC Bank and IndusInd Bank were the other gainers.
PSU banking stocks were also trading higher ahead of the RBI's credit policy to be declared on Friday. Among the notable gainers from the space were Allahabad Bank, Andhra Bank, IDBI Bank and Indian Overseas Bank.
Realty stocks recovered from Friday's losses and were trading with a positive bias. Sterlite Industries was trading higher ahead of its results to be declared later today. Maruti which spurted on Friday saw further buying in early trade today. The stock was up 1.6 per cent, following Friday's gains.
Energy and stocks from the oil marketing sector were in demand once again today. The CNX Energy index was up almost 1 per cent in trade. Notable gainers from the space were BPCL, Indian Oil and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation.
Meanwhile, markets in Asia were trading flattish, which some of the markets closed for trading today.
