FIIs invest $4 bn in equities in May; highest in 3 months
Foreign investors invested more than USD 4 billion (approx. Rs 22,000 crore) into Indian equity markets during the month of May, taking the total FIIs inflows into domestic stock markets to Rs 83,205 crore (USD 15.3 billion) in 2013 so far.

The inflows in May were the highest in three months and reflect the rising optimism among FIIs about Indian economy's growth. FIIs had invested just Rs 5,414 crore in the month of April.

Experts believe that these strong FIIs inflows are due to increased global liquidity as major central banks ease their monetary policies to boost growth. Helped by strong FII inflows, BSE Sensex gained 256 points or 1.3 per cent during the month of May.

Besides, FIIs invested Rs 5,969 crore in the debt market during May taking the total investment to Rs 24,047 crore in 2013 so far.
