Leading mobile handset maker, Nokia India has entered into collaboration with public insurer, New India Assurance with an aim to extend insurance cover for its complete portfolio of mobile phones from entry level to high-end smartphones.
"We have tied up New India Assurance for providing insurance cover for the entire range of Nokia handsets. Initially, the scheme will start in West Bengal and then be rolled out in other parts of the country," Nokia, General Manager (East), Kislay Kumar said.
The insurance cover would be initially offered to phones purchased from Nokia Priority Dealers. However, the service will be eventually extended to handsets purchased from all other multi-brand retail outlets.
Kumar added that the cost of the insurance cover would be 1.25 per cent of the cost of the handset, or Rs 50, whichever is higher.
