Mid-Market—Sensex stays range-bound; Bharti Airtel, RIL up Analysis for Jun 18, 2013

The 30-share benchmark index Sensex continued the range movement during mid-session with a negative bias as investors stay cautious ahead of US Fed"s meeting. Gain in heavyweight stocks like Bharti Airtel, RIL, and Infosys were getting offset with decline in stocks like ICICI Bank, ITC and HDFC Bank. At 12:37PM, BSE SENSEX was at 19262.7 down by 63.17 points or by 0.33 per cent while NSE Nifty was at 5835.55 down by 14.5 points or by 0.25 per cent.

The BSE MIDCAP was at 6223.75 up by 22.5 points or by 0.36 per cent, while the BSE SMLCAP was at 5814.36 up by 19.14 points or by 0.33 per cent.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 103.15,+1.13%), Tata Power Company Ltd. (Rs. 83.10,+0.97%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 2444.50,+0.95%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 831.30,+0.75%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 1819.20,+0.66%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 295.15,-1.47%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 148.40,-1.26%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1088.35,-1.19%), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 296.00,-1.04%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 660.60,-1.03%), among others.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2145, shares advanced were 1036 while 964 shares declined and 145 were unchanged.
