SBI to appoint 10,000 employees in FY14
India's largest lender, State bank of India has planned to appoint 10,000 officers and employees in the current fiscal as around 7500 employees will retire this fiscal.

"We will be hiring 10,000 people this year, including 1,500 probationary officers, the process for which started in April. Around 7,500 will be retiring this fiscal," SBI Chairman,PratipChaudhuri told media. The bank has also proposed to open around 1200 branches in the country as well as eight branch offices overseas, including China and the UK, in the current fiscal.

Pratip Chaudhuri further added that, the bank has upgraded all the branches and all have become air-conditioned. In the last quarter, the bank recruited 20,000 assistant grade employees at front office.

Besides, the bank recruited 20,000 clerical staff and 1,200 officer level employees in the last financial year. Moreover, other public sector banks hired 22,000 officers and 20,000 clerical staff in fiscal year 2012-13.
